A Museum Quality George III Silver Soup Tureen
A very fine George III silver soup tureen. Of oval bellied form with a gadrooned/ribbed border. The cushion shaped body is hand raised and stands on four robust cast legs, with shell-moulded feet. Cast handles and supports are applied to the sides decorated with matching gadrooning. An armorial is engraved to the body. The cover is decorated with a matching gadrooned border and surmounted with a large final handle, and engraved with a crest.
All parts clearly hallmarked for London 1784 by ID & TD.
This soup tureen is in exceptional size and in wonderful condition with no repairs, dents or erasures. Stand true on a flat surface and is of a very thick gauge.
Soup tureens of this age and size are few and far between, this one being of museum quality standard.
