A Pair of Cast Silver Candlesticks by William Cafe London 1760

A pair of early George III cast silver table candlesticks spirally fluted square bases, with central shells, knopped stems, cast and chased throughout with flowers, leafy scrolls and rope work decoration.

Each capital engraved with the crest of a lion rampant and a raised arm wielding a sword.

Clearly hallmarked to the underside for London 1760, with the maker's mark of William Cafe. Also marked to the capitals and sconces.

These are quite exceptional candlesticks by the highly regarded candlestick specialist William Café. Sticks of this kind decorated in this way are extremely rare. The condition is astonishing. No damage or repair, with no wear to the decoration and a wonderful colour and patina.
