A George III Silver Coffee Pot London 1768 by Whipham & Wright

An excellent quality silver George III silver coffee pot of plain baluster form with swan neck spout with cast anthemion design.
The domed lid with flame finial. One side engraved with a vacant floral cartouche. Original double C-scroll fruit wood handle.
The whole standing on a stepped circular foot with a raised beaded band.
 
Hallmarked for London 1768 by Thomas Whipham and Charles Wright. The lid is marked with the lion passant.
A scratch weight of 26"3 is marked to the base. The marks are clear and very well struck.
 
This very attractive coffee pot in absolutely original condition with no damage, erasures or repairs.
 
The gauge of the silver is very good and the lid fits extremely well with no lateral movement to the hinge. The handle is firm with no cracks, chips or splits and the finial stands true.
A few very minor bruises to the bulbous part of the body.
The hallmarks are well struck and very clear.
 
This beautiful coffee pot is of a good gauge and has a lovely colour and patina by highly collectable makers of very fine coffee pots.
