Extremely fine set of four Georgian cast silver table candlesticks with leaf pattern decoration to the square shaped bases. A wrythen stem and leaf pattern and scroll form knop. Cotton reel capitals with a rope twist decoration. Conforming removable sconces with shell form corners.
One pair marked for London 1764 and the other 1765. One pair by Thomas Hannam and John Crouch the other by Thomas Hannam and Richard Mills. All the hallmarks are clearly struck to the base underside. Each of the capitals is also struck with the lion passant as are all the sconces.
This is a very unusual and extremely attractive form of cast silver candlestick not often encountered of good height and in excellent overall condition with no signs of any damage or repair. Each of the sconces is marked with a notch numbers 1 to 4 and a corresponding notch in each of the capitals. Wonderful colour and patina.
