£4,000

A George III silver coffee pot, London 1769 by William Abdy. The body of double pear-shaped form with embossed spiral-fluted foliate decoration. A floral decorated cast spout and handle mountings. The hinged lid with matching decoration and a gadrooned border, surmounted with a cast finial. The pot still has it’s original fruitwood handle. All standing on an embossed, raised circular foot.

Clearly hallmarked for London 1759, maker's mark W A for William Abdy. The lid is marked with the maker’s mark and the lion passant.

This is an elegantly shaped coffee pot in very fine condition with no damage or repairs. Good crisp definition to the decoration. Good hinge and stands true on a flat surface.
